Tree of Guardians: PARTICIPATORY ART PROJECT LAUNCHED in SAUDI ARABIA
Do you want to be part of my artwork?To all the wonderful women in Saudi … I would like to invite you to become an active participant in an artwork I am producing.  You are invited to attend a workshop with me, where we will have a short discussion then we will work on creating a collaborative art piece. This artwork will be shown in Jeddah as part of the Mu’alagat exhibition during the Jeddah Arts [21,39] programming planned for February 4, 2014.

RESIDENCY : MATHAF MUSEUM OF MODERN ARAB ART - PROJECT SPACE
In a project titled Crash, Manal AlDowayan transforms Mathaf’s “Project Space” into a temporary artists studio. Over the course of the two-month project, AlDowayan opens this studio to the public, making transparent the materials and process of research into the frequent car accidents that take the lives of women schoolteachers in Saudi Arabia. Paintings, Sculptures & Projects Garden, Mathaf: Museum of Modern Arab Art
The concept of a garden expresses the idea of culture, the diversity of Mathaf’s unique Collection of modern and contemporary art, and tells of multiple histories to be explored. The modern museum is a place for intellectual and artistic production that responds to the need of society to recognize and validate its values and creativity, or to examine its history and perspective of development. Manal’s work Suspended Together is shown in this exhibition from December 10, 2013 to February 9, 2014 in Doha, Qatar

NOW BABYLON architectural exhibition at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
In the exhibition NOW BABYLON we turn our attention to the Arab world. A world that geographically, climatically, demographically and culturally differs enormously over the span from Baghdad to Saudi Arabia to Morocco. Only the Arabic language, with its variations, is common to all 22 countries in the Arab world, but other cultural similarities can be found. The exhibition is a crossover, showing architectural projects and installations as well as works of art.  DENMARK 31 January - 4 May 2014

Mualgat Exhibition as Part of the Jeddah Arts [21,39]
A city wide art festival that examines both modern and contemporary art in Saudi Arabia. Manal will be showing a new work titled The Tree of Guardians in the curated show. The festival opens February 4th, 2014 in Jeddah Saudi Arabia.

FOTOFEST 2014 BIENNIAL
The FotoFest 2014 Biennial, the 15th International Biennial of Photography and Photo-related Art, is March 15 - April 27, 2014. FotoFest's own exhibitions for the 2014 Biennial will focus on Contemporary Arab Photographic Art, including video and multi-media installations. The Biennial will showcase more than 40 contemporary Arab artists using photography and related visual media to address a broad range of aesthetic and cultural values impacting Arab culture.March 15 - April 27, 2014, Houston, Texas U.S.A.

ICA FILM SCREENING: QATAR UK 2013 YEAR OF CULTURE - CINEMA ON THE STEPS

TALKS AND PANEL DISCUSSIONS
Nuqat: Executing Culture Shock
The purpose of this year's conference is to challenge and examine the experience of cultural change and its effect on artists and designers. It will also assess the role of creatives in executing change within a transforming culture through the exploration of its transitional levels. Manal will give a talk titled “A Journey of Belonging”. Books, Borders & Bikes 2013
Manal will exhibiting her I AM collection and speaking at the 4th Annual International Festival of Literature and Thought at Traquair House in the Borders. The 2013 Festival will bring together writers, artists, cultural and political leaders from all over the world for a relaxing yet stimulating weekend of debates, walks, cycles, films and art. Festival themes include national identity, liberty and the State, Iraq 10 years on, Scotland's role in the world, the power of cultural diplomacy and the rise of protests. 17-18 August Edinburgh, Scotland. CHARITY AUCTIONS
“A Hand Claps and a Hand Waves” was auctioned at Art4Sight event to benefit the Noor Dubai Foundation, this will be Manal’s second year to support the charity. Also a porcelain Dove from the limited edition sculptures will be placed in auction to help highlight violence against women globally and proceeds will go towards The Sara Charlton Charitable Foundation in the UK. All auctions are managed by Christie’s Auction House.

ACQUISTIONS 2013
- Mathaf: Museum of Modern Art has acquired “Suspended Together” to be part of their permanent collection
- Art work titled “Courage” from The State of Disappearance series was acquired by the Los Angeles County Museum of Modern Art and will be added to its permanent collection.
- The British Museum has acquired the full collection of the “If I Forget You, Don’t Forget Me” collection which consists of 20 photographs and 12 videos to be added to their permanent collection.
