What Silence Keeps: Sabrina Amrani (Sallaberry, 52), Madrid - Group Show
What Silence Keeps is a group exhibition presented by Sabrina Amrani featuring works by :mentalKLINIK, Carlos Aires, Manal AlDowayan, Joël Andrianomearisoa, Gabriela Bettini, Alexandra Karakashian, Waqas Khan, Nicène Kossentini, Mónica de Miranda, Timo Nasseri, Wardha Shabbir, and Jorge Tacla. Bringing together artists from diverse cultural and geographical backgrounds, the exhibition explores silence not as emptiness, but as a space where memory, loss, resistance, and transformation persist.
Through painting, installation, drawing, photography, and sculpture, the exhibition examines what remains hidden, erased, or unresolved within personal and collective histories. The participating artists reflect on themes of disappearance, cultural memory, emotional fragility, displacement, spirituality, and the traces of violence embedded in contemporary life. Their works navigate the tension between presence and absence, revealing silence as both a form of concealment and a means of preservation.
Within this context, Manal AlDowayan’s work engages with female experience, cultural memory, and forms of knowledge historically marginalized or silenced, contributing to the exhibition’s broader reflection on visibility, identity, and endurance.
